fired up business innovation 300x260 5 Ways to Fired Up Our Business Innovation

Unfortunately not everyone can easily make innovations in the business. By Carol Tice, business writer, there are five steps that can be taken in order to make innovations in small and medium scale business:

A step forward. While all businesses to do the almost uniform, go a step to do something different. For example, when others are still grappling with the traditional industrial products, concentrate to deliver products that are environmentally friendly. Or if engaged in the food, offer healthier products or organic products.

Do not be afraid of change. As consumers we are enjoying the new things, but as entrepreneurs we just afraid to face new ideas even though it promises profit doubled. Because it is created in the corporate culture that encourages initiatives to innovate.

Listen to the consumer. If the creation of energy are declining, do polls via the Internet or set up a focus group.

Give an unusual service. Being innovative does not always have to be a creator of something new. By providing different services could be an innovative businessman. For example, physician services in the building to open a stock exchange as may be in the middle of the high pressure in the building a lot of people who need the help of doctors by surprise.

Maintain the momentum. If the idea of ??innovation has been obtained, immediately let into the environment (staff) in order to find the passion and input to make it happen.

Well, already prepared in the light of innovation in your business?

Bonnie Fuller: Kristen Stewart Kicks Butt as a Thoroughly Modern Heroine in 'Snow White & The Huntsman'

I am Snow White, hear me roar! That's Snow White's attitude in this totally 2012 version of the Brothers Grimm classic fairy tale, Snow White & The Huntsman.

Kristen Stewart, who stars as the warrior Snow White in Snow White & The Huntsman, opening June 1, has said that she wanted to play Snow as a "badass."

And that's just what she does. Her version of an empowered and proactive Snow White doesn't spend a moment cooking, cleaning and keeping house for a bunch of dwarves. Neither does she idiotically keep letting an old woman give her poisoned hairpins and an apple that she stupidly eats.

No, Kristen Stewart's Snow White realizes very quickly that if anyone is going to defeat the evil Queen Ravenna and take back her rightful throne, then it has to be her. She's not one to wait around for Prince Charming to rescue her, either.

Like the other courageous film heroine who stormed the box office this spring -- Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games, Kristen Stewart's Snow White is a leader of men... and other women.

Just as Katniss defended her fellow Hunger Games contestant, Peeta, Snow White even steps up to save the life of the Huntsman.

This is a saga about the power of pure good (Snow White) against complicated evil. While Charlize Theron as the stunning and deathly stepmother Queen Ravena, doesn't elicit our sympathy, she does inspire our curiosity. There is a reason she has become so selfish, and beauty and power obsessed. You wonder if in some way she identifies with Snow White, at least as a child. If not -- why didn't she kill her immediately instead of imprisoning her for years?

Now, while I would have liked to know what Snow White did for all her years locked up in a tower -- she had to occupy her mind somehow -- Kristen Stewart is very believable as a young woman in awe of an outside world she has escaped into after only glimpsing it through a window for years.

Mubarak's sons face new charges of insider trading

CAIRO (AP) ? Hosni Mubarak's two sons were accused Wednesday with insider trading in a new case opened just three days before they and their elderly father are to hear the verdict in a separate trial on charges of corruption and complicity in killing protesters during last year's uprising.

The prosecutions of the Mubarak family and its cronies had seemed to be part of a process of dismantling the old regime ousted in the uprising. But now Mubarak's last prime minister and longtime protege is one of two candidates heading into a runoff vote for president in just a few weeks.

The new case, which was referred to trial, was interpreted as a timely attempt by Egypt's military rulers to assuage anger over the possible ascent to the presidency of Ahmed Shafiq, the last prime minister to serve under Mubarak and, like his mentor, a former air force commander. Shafiq is widely viewed as an extension of the Mubarak regime remembered for authoritarianism, corruption and a brutal police force.

"It's an attempt to ease the popular anger over Shafiq," said Shady el-Ghazali Harb, a key leader of the anti-Mubarak uprising. "It is a theatrical move by the generals to create the illusion that there is no question of showing leniency to the old regime."

Mubarak and his two sons, the one-time heir apparent Gamal and wealthy businessman Alaa, are already on trial for separate charges of corruption. They have all been in prison since April 2011, two months after a popular, 18-day uprising forced Mubarak to step down after 29 years in office.

Mubarak, 84 and ailing, faces additional charges of complicity in the death of some 900 protesters during the uprising. But his sons are not charged in the protester killings. The former leader could get the death penalty if convicted on the charges linked to killing protesters.

A statement by the prosecutor-general's office on the new charges said the Mubarak sons, along with seven others, made 2 billion Egyptian pounds in illicit gains. Their actions violated central bank and stock market regulations, it said.

The nine are accused of conspiring to stealthily buy a controlling 80 percent stake in Al Watany Bank of Egypt without declaring their share to the stock market authority, it added. They later traded its shares through closed funds and investment companies based abroad.

"They deliberately withheld this essential information on the sale of the bank from other share traders to execute their criminal plot and violate the principles of transparency and equality between traders," said the statement. It did not specify the role of each of the nine defendants nor announce a date for the trial.

The seven other defendants are free on bail but banned from leaving the country.

The prosecutor's statement said Gamal, 48, unlawfully made a profit of nearly 500 million Egyptian pounds from the sale of the Al Watany Bank of Egypt and that his brother Alaa, believed to be around 50, used insider information about the bank to reap an illegal profit of some 12 million Egyptian pounds.

Two of the seven men charged along with the Mubarak sons are the joint chief executive officers of Hermes, one of the Middle East's top investment banks with branches in nine Arab nations. They are Yasser El-Malawny and Hassan Heikal, son of Mohammed Hassanein Heikal, Egypt's best known political writer and a longtime confidante of the late Egyptian leader Gamal Abdel-Nasser.

Late Wednesday, Hermes said in a statement that its two chief executives acted properly in the aqcuisition of the Al Watany bank, in which the National Bank of Kuwait took nearly a 100 percent stake in November 2007.

"The two chief executive officers had no personal interest, gain or any dealings or trading in the shares of the Al Watany Bank of Egypt," it said, adding that the company has taken the necessary legal actions to defend them.

The three Mubaraks, along with the ousted leader's security chief and four of his top aides, will hear the court's verdict on the case already in progress on June 2.

Gamal Mubarak was viewed by many as a corrupt politician who used his father's position to illegally amass a fortune while working along with a coterie of regime-backed wealthy businessmen and powerful politicians to ensure that he succeeded his father.

He rapidly rose to the top of his father's ruling National Democratic Party to become its de facto boss on the eve of his father's ouster, when he also was effectively running Egypt's day-to-day affairs. At the time of the uprising, there was growing anxiety in Egypt that his succession was imminent. That anxiety is seen as one of the key sparks for the uprising that overthrew Mubarak.

Many of Gamal's closest allies are among some three dozen regime stalwarts in detention facing charges of corruption. Some of them have been convicted and sentenced to prison terms.

The new charges came two days after Shafiq was officially declared one of two top vote-getters in the first round of presidential elections held on May 23-24. Shafiq and the Muslim Brotherhood's Mohammed Morsi will now go head-to-hear in a runoff vote on June 16-17. The winner will be announced June 21, the last step before the generals are due to hand over power.

A Shafiq presidency would mean the continuation of de facto military rule in Egypt, where all four presidents since the overthrow of the monarchy nearly 60 years have been of military background.

Shafiq's qualification to the runoff has angered many Egyptians who see him as an extension of the old regime and an affront to the uprising that, among other things, sought to end military rule. Several hundred protesters stormed, vandalized and set ablaze his campaign headquarters in Cairo late on Monday night, just hours after the official results were announced.

Other protesters in Cairo and a string of cities in northern Egypt tore down his campaign posters.

Michael Hanna, an Egypt expert from the New York-based Century Foundation, said the announcement of new charges is the latest measure by the ruling generals who took over from Mubarak against their old regime rivals ? Gamal Mubarak, his brother along with the businessmen and politicians who threw their weight behind the succession scheme. The military primarily opposed the succession because it would end the military's decades-old grip on the land's highest office.

"Today's announcement fits a pattern of prosecuting politicians and businessmen viewed by the military as a threat to its interests when it has been nearly impossible to convict policeman accused of killing protesters."

Earlier Wednesday, a criminal court convicted and sentenced to five years in prison a policeman for his part in the shooting death of 18 protesters on January 28, last year, the bloodiest day of the uprising. Mohammed el-Sunni had been sentenced to death earlier when he was on the run. Thursday's verdict came after a retrial that followed his surrender to authorities.

But his conviction followed multiple court cases in which policemen charged with killing protesters have been acquitted or received light sentences.

Common painkillers tied to lower skin cancer risk

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - In a new study from Denmark, people who had taken aspirin, ibuprofen and related painkillers -- especially at high doses and for years at a time -- were less likely to get skin cancer, compared to those who rarely used those medications.

The findings add to growing evidence that long-term use of the medications, known as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAIDs, may help protect people against skin cancers, including melanoma, the deadliest type.

Still, research has not been unanimous in that finding: one large 2008 report found no link between NSAIDs and melanoma.

The drugs have also been linked to an increased risk of kidney cancer and come with known bleeding risks -- so more research is needed to weigh the possible harms and benefits of the drugs outside of pain relief, researchers said.

But the lead author on the new study said it would make sense if NSAIDs were tied to skin cancer risk.

"NSAIDs work by inhibiting specific enzymes involved in inflammation," Sigrun Alba Johannesdottir, from Aarhus University Hospital, told Reuters Health in an email.

"Previous studies show that elevated levels of these enzymes are found in skin cancer and that they are involved in important steps of cancer development such as inhibition of cell death, suppression of the immune system, and stimulation of invasiveness and blood vessel growth," she explained.

For the new research, Johannesdottir and her colleagues looked back at records from more than 18,000 people in northern Denmark with skin cancer, both melanoma and less-risky forms of the disease, between 1991 and 2009.

They matched each of those cancer cases with another ten people of the same age and gender without cancer and compared their prescription drug records for the years before the cancer patients were diagnosed.

Thirty-eight percent of people without cancer had filled more than two prescriptions for an NSAID, according to their medical records.

The researchers found that people with a history of using aspirin and other NSAIDs had a 13 percent lower risk of melanoma compared to non-NSAID users, and a 15 percent lower risk of squamous cell carcinoma, another less-deadly form of skin cancer.

There was no difference in the risk of basal cell carcinoma, a third cancer type, based on whether or not Danes had used NSAIDs, according to findings published Tuesday in Cancer.

When the researchers looked specifically at people who had filled prescriptions for the drugs over at least seven years, and used them twice a week or more, they found a stronger link: long-term, high-intensity NSAID users had a 46 percent lower risk of melanoma, a 35 percent lower risk of squamous cell carcinoma and a 17 percent lower chance of getting basal cell carcinoma.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, close to 60,000 people in the U.S. were diagnosed with melanoma in 2008, the most recent year with available data, and just under 9,000 died from the disease.

About two million people nationwide are diagnosed with non-melanoma skin cancers each year, but only about 5,000 people die from squamous cell and basal cell carcinomas combined.

Aspirin and other NSAIDs can be bought over-the-counter in the U.S. for a few cents per pill.

The researchers cautioned that there were some limitations to their findings -- including that they didn't have information on other possible risks for skin cancer, such as exposure to ultraviolet light, and not all Danish cancer cases were included in their registries.

One dermatologist not involved in the new study said to clarify the link between NSAIDs and skin cancer, a "gold standard" trial is needed -- in which people are randomly assigned to take the drugs or not, then followed to see who develops cancer.

"More work needs to be done to examine this association," said Dr. Maryam Asgari, a research scientist at Kaiser Permanente in Oakland.

"I don't think I'd recommend to people, ?Hey, take an aspirin a day to prevent skin cancer,'" she told Reuters Health.

"I don't think we have enough data to say that. I think we do have enough data to say, certain NSAIDs appear to be promising."

Johannesdottir agreed that promoting painkiller use based on these findings isn't warranted.

"Because there are also risks associated with the use of NSAIDs, we cannot give recommendations on NSAID use in general. It is up to the patient and his/her physicians to balance benefits and harms," she said.

And, she added, "The most important prevention against skin cancer remains sun protection."

Luqnet.com: How Computer Viruses Are Spread

How will you feel? You wake up one day and realize that you have a virus on your computer, ?and you don?t know quite how to get rid of it.

Most people these days understand

what a virus is and how harmful it can be, but they are still somewhat unsure how computer viruses spread. The truth is that there are many different ways in which a virus can spread from computer to computer, but let?s take a look at the most frequent ways in which people run into viruses, spyware and Trojans on the Internet.

Rogue Websites

It is depressing to know that you may become infected with spyware or a virus by doing nothing more than simply visiting a website, but it is true. Many adult websites, gambling websites and other less than trustworthy websites will attempt to automatically access your computer when you visit them. They often install adware bugs that will cause a flurry of pop ups to appear on your screen. This adware will often allow for other programs with even more nefarious purposes to be installed and before you know it, your computer will be swamped.?

To protect yourself from these, adjust the settings on your antivirus software and firewall so that no outside connections can be made and no programs can be installed without your express permission.

Networks

If your computer is connected to a home network or if your work computer is part of a larger network, you may find yourself with an infection through no fault of your own. Someone else on the network downloaded a bug by accident, and within minutes, the entire network could be infected.?

There isn?t much you can do to stop these kinds of infections, short of having your network administrator ensure that everyone?s antivirus software is up to date so that the invading bug can be removed as quickly as possible.

Email attachments

The world became familiar with the phenomena of email attachments carrying viruses thanks to Microsoft?s Outlook Express automatically opening every attachment to every email you received a few years back. Now that email clients no longer do this, the infection rate from email attachments is significantly lower, but it can still be a common problem. The golden rule is that if you don?t know what an attachment is, don?t open it.?

To this day, many email users never open attachments, no matter what. You don?t have to take such drastic steps to protect yourself, however; simply use common sense when opening attachments in your email.

Infected Boot disks

?Now that hard drives are obscenely large, the overwhelming percentage of us don?t bother to use boot disks anymore, but a virus can still be spread if an infected disk is in your hard drive and you attempt to restart. When you start your computer, your machine will always check your drives to see if a disk with boot information is present. If one is, your computer will likely automatically attempt to boot from the disk and not from your drive. If a virus is present, it will often be activated and you will become infected. Always know the status of any disk you put into your drive.Phishing Schemes

Learning how computer viruses spread is important to keep yourself, and your personal information, safe online. Phishing schemes are one of the chief ways in which people end up with their identity stolen and a computer fill of viruses. A phishing scheme starts when you receive an email from a website claiming to be your bank or Credit Card Company. You are asked to click a link and log in, but the truth is that you?ve just given away all of your personal information. Often times, when you visit these sites, spyware, adware and viruses are automatically installed on your computer. This also works like the Rogue Websites.

The smartest thing you can do is to simply call your bank or credit card company if you receive an email saying there is a problem with your account instead of blindly following links in your email.

Hackers

The Internet today is a much more law abiding place than it was ten years ago. Not only did most people not have antivirus protection and firewalls that could stop incoming attacks, most people didn?t even know what they were. Today, people understand the value of good online protection, but hackers can still pose a problem if you allow your protection software to lapse.?

The best way to beat hackers is to ensure that you have a firewall and up to date antivirus software.

Infected Software & Fake Anti Virus?

One of the great things about the Internet is how many free games and programs there are out there, but these free programs often come at a price. Too many rogue websites intentionally infect their freeware (like Kazaa) with Trojan viruses so that you unknowingly infect your computer every time you download a free game or piece of software.?

The key here is to only download freeware or shareware from a trusted source that always ensures your safety.

Also, the most frustrating ways to become infected with a virus or worm. There are many antiviruses and anti spyware programs you can download for free on the Internet and a surprising number of them actually do exactly the opposite of what they claim. The product websites make outrageous claims that their product can protect you from a whole range of threats, when, in reality, their product will only make things a thousand times worse.?

Only download antivirus programs from trusted sites or from websites that you know are completely legit.

?Instant Messaging

It is difficult to find a computer in this day and age that doesn?t have at least one instant messaging service installed on it. Unfortunately, these programs are often targets of hackers who see an easy way to trick people into clicking links that lead them to rogue websites.?

Only chat with people you know and never follow links to sites that you don?t recognize. You should easily be able to keep Internet worms, viruses and other bugs at bay.

Note all this simple ways that viruses use to attacks your computer.

Unfortunately, we are sent viruses through our email from people that we know and trust. The social networking site Facebook has had to battle this very problem when their serves get a bug and automatically send out emails to everyone on the system that are infected. Often times, these emails are extremely generic sounding and come with suspicious attachments, but people often open them anyway since they have come from a friend or from a site they trust, like Facebook. Remember, if you get an attachment with an .exe extension or a .dll, don?t ever open it.

Finally, learning how computer viruses spread is the best way we can put an end to their reign of terror online. It is only with the right knowledge and the best antivirus protection software that Internet users everywhere can beat online bugs for good.

Hope it work for you. For more technology tips, reviews and info delivered directly to your inbox just submit your email to follow by email box below. Thanks for reading.

Attack on candidate's HQ as vote polarises Egypt

CAIRO (Reuters) - An arson attack on the headquarters of one of the two candidates in Egypt's presidential election has marred campaigning for the second round in a vote that has polarised the nation with the choice of an Islamist or Hosni Mubarak's last prime minister.

Protesters set fire to storage rooms and smashed computers late on Monday at the campaign headquarters of Ahmed Shafiq, a 70-year-old former air force chief and Mubarak official, who was confirmed as a run-off candidate after the first round vote.

His rival is Mohamed Mursi, a senior member of the Muslim Brotherhood, Egypt's main Islamist group which controls the biggest bloc in parliament after an earlier election. The deciding presidential vote is on June 16 and 17.

Mursi, 60, drew support from a disciplined group of backers of the Brotherhood, banned under Mubarak, and Shafiq attracted Egyptians who want a strongman to restore law, order and prosperity after 15 months of turmoil since Mubarak's ouster.

Neither won more than a quarter of votes cast in the first round, leaving an agonising choice for a sizeable portion of the electorate who backed more centrist candidates and do not want a conservative Islamist or an ex-military officer at the helm.

Thousands of Egyptians took to the streets on Monday night in protest after the results of the first round were confirmed by the election committee. Some held up posters of Mursi with a cross over his face. But most were chanting against Shafiq.

Dozens then marched from the protests around Tahrir Square, where hundreds of thousands played out a drama that toppled Mubarak, to Shafiq's headquarters in the upscale Cairo district of Dokki.

"They seemed to know what they were after and they went directly to the storage rooms and set them on fire using petrol bombs," said Ahmed Abdel Ghani, 30, a member of Shafiq's campaign, surveying a scene of unusable, charred campaign flyers and leaflets scattered on the ground.

The main villa escaped the flames but protesters smashed laptops and computers inside, he said. Daubed on the wall outside the villa were the words: "No to Shafiq, no to feloul," an Arabic word referring to "remnants" of Mubarak's era.

Shafiq has made no secret of his admiration for Mubarak, describing him as a role model after his own father. Protesters threw stones and shoes at him when he voted in Cairo last week.

"We condemn the attack but we still don't know who is behind it and will wait for investigations. But we are continuing our work and path and hopefully all will end well," said one official in the campaign, who asked not to be named.

BLOODY TRANSITION

The flare-up was the latest in an already messy and often bloody transition to democracy since generals took over from Mubarak after a popular uprising forced him out on February 11, 2011. The army has pledged to hand over power by July 1.

Even before the first-round vote, revolutionaries who led the demonstrations that brought down Mubarak had promised to hit the streets if Shafiq progressed in the vote to become president of the Arab world's most populous nation.

Yet any violence could help Shafiq's cause as his strongest card in the race is his promise swiftly to restore law and order, which collapsed after Mubarak's downfall.

Many Egyptians were happy to see the back of Mubarak, yet are now desperate for stability to revive the shattered economy. Shafiq is seen as having the army backing to achieve that.

Both Shafiq and the Brotherhood are now trying to rally support from more centrist voters in the second round. But youth leaders of the uprising fear they would be surrendering their revolution by voting for Mursi or Shafiq and liberals are also deeply uncomfortable with the available candidates.

Liberal and other political groups have often criticised the Brotherhood for being slow to join the anti-Mubarak revolt, acquiescing too quickly to the ruling generals and seeking to dominate the political scene after their parliamentary success.

Mursi's supporters believe Mursi and the Brotherhood, which has a social network with grass-roots support across Egypt, are the best hope for reforming a corrupt state.

"Protests are expected. Not everyone will be satisfied with the result, some will object to it but we hope that the people's choice will be with the revolution," said Fareed Ismail, a senior figure in the Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party.

"The situation in Egypt is in a critical and dangerous phase. We must work together so that the revolution isn't lost," he told Reuters.

The Brotherhood denied any role in the attack on Shafiq's headquarters. Other candidates who lost in the first round also condemned the violence.

Hamdeen Sabahy, a leftist candidate who came third in the race and now being courted by the Brotherhood, said in a statement it was the "right of the people to express their opinion provided demonstrations were peaceful".

A Brotherhood source, who asked not to be named, said the Islamist group had prepared a menu of options to tempt rival groups and politicians to its side, including backers of first-round loser and ex-Brotherhood member Abdol Moneim Abol Fotouh.

Until now, fourth-placed Abol Fotouh has called for his supporters to "stand united against the symbols of corruption and oppression" - a reference to Shafiq - but has not explicitly said he would back Mursi.

Like Sabahy, fifth-placed former Arab League chief Amr Moussa, once a favourite, has not backed either candidate.

The ultra-orthodox Salafi Muslim Al-Nour party, which controls the second biggest bloc in parliament and had backed Abol Fotouh, has thrown its weight behind Mursi.

The Brotherhood source said the group has offered: creating a five-member advisory council to advise the president; assigning the posts of prime minister or vice-president to Abol Fotouh and Sabahy; distributing cabinet posts to other parties; and offering compromises on planned laws and on an assembly tasked with drafting a new constitution.

Four candidates complained about the vote conduct but the election committee dismissed all the complaints.

Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter said he was broadly confident about the election process although Carter Center monitors highlighted several irregularities, notably lack of access in the final aggregation of national results.

Former high-school star Brian Banks does serious time on trumped-up charge, now hopes for an NFL shot

Occasionally, we come across stories that defy credulity to the point where we can?t quite believe what we?re seeing. And when these stories involve good people getting railroaded and losing huge parts of their lives for no good reason ? well, it?s hard to know what to think.

That?s our reaction to Brian Banks? story, and we aren?t even living it. One struggles to imagine what he?s been through. Banks is a former star high-school football recruit who lost any shot at his dream of college football ? and just about anything else ? as a result of a casual ?make-out? session with 15-year-old Wanetta Gibson. The two Polytechnic High students from Long Beach did not have sex, but Gibson accused Banks of rape nonetheless. Despite a lack of DNA evidence, Banks? lawyer ? who won?t be winning any Perry Mason awards any time soon ? advised his client to take a plea against his own innocence.

According to the Sporting News, the attorney was hardly an advocate. ?She told me I was a big black teenager,? Banks said, ?and no jury would believe anything I said.?

Eventually, Banks served five years and two months in prison and spent another five years on probation. When he was released from prison, he had to register as a sex offender and wear an ankle bracelet. Any shot he had of making a go of football was gone ? now, it was just about survival under unimaginable circumstances. How do you live life as the worst sort of person when you?re not? And how do you get past losing that much of your life for something you didn?t do?

The story gets even stranger. Gibson sued the school district for not providing a safe environment, and was awarded $1.5 million. Last year, she had the nerve to contact Banks through Facebook and ask to be ?friends.? Most people would have bombed that friend request with all the appropriate obscene verbiage, but Banks had something else in mind.

?I stopped what I was doing,? he said, ?and got down on my knees and prayed to God to help me play my cards right.? Banks set up a couple of meetings with Gibson, who said that she?d try to help Banks clear his name with one caveat ? she couldn?t talk to prosecutors, you see, because she might lose that $1.5 million award. Banks secretly recorded conversations in which Gibson admitted that the charges were bogus, and took those recordings to the California Innocence Project, a program at California Western School of Law.
Attorneys brought the case back to the judge who convicted and sentenced Banks, and on Thursday, his name was finally cleared.

?There are no words in any language, no gesture in any culture that can explain or describe what I have been through,? he said.

Gibson didn?t attend the hearing ? no doubt she was spending time under a rock somewhere ? and the local D.A. says that she won?t likely be charged for falsely accusing Banks, because the case is 10 years old, and she was only 15 years old at the time. That?s bad enough, but I?d really like to know what the D.A. ? or any other local official ? plans to do about that $1.5 million. it?s tough to reconcile that concept after watching her glibly admit that the charges were false.

As for Banks, he has lost 50 pounds since he started working out in earnest last October, and the former star linebacker is trying to move on and give his football dream one more chance.

?Let me show you what I can produce,? Banks recently told the Today Show. ?I think that any team that gives me an opportunity will be really impressed with what I can do.?

Even if Banks can?t pass that particular test anymore, there?s no question any team would be impressed with who he is.

As for you, Ms. Gibson? You?ve got one hellacious karmic debt to pay.

Links: Zach Leonsis to rep Washington Wizards at NBA Draft lottery

C'mon Zach, make it happen again.

Gonna make this one quick today:

  • Zach Leonsis, son of Ted Leonsis, will represent the Wizards at the NBA Draft lottery in New York this Wednesday. Dunno if Ted is counting on cashing in the same way the Cavs did when owner Dan Gilbert's 14-year-old son, Nick, repped the team at last year's lottery, but somehow Zach, a Penn grad working as an exec with his dad's company, doesn't make for as great a story as a teenager with a genetic nerve disorder sporting a bowtie, quick wit and triumphant attitude. [Wizards Insider]
  • As Frank Hanrahan notes, the Wizards have a busy offseason ahead of them, beginning with determining who will coach the team next season. I wouldn't be surprised if the team (and free agent coaches) are waiting to see how the team does in the draft lottery. I have to think the Wizards job becomes a lot more enticing if the Wiz get the top pick and the right to draft Anthony Davis.
  • Even if Randy Wittman is retained, how much time will he be given to produce results? [Crossover Chronicles]
  • Bullet Nation in Exile asks which prospect, assuming their respective talent levels are equal, would best fit the Wizards: Kentucky wing Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Kansas forward Thomas Robinson or Florida guard Bradley Beal. Seems most of you think the Wiz could use help on the perimeter, and more would like prefer a shooter to a lockdown defender.

The Appearance Of Psychopath | Reference and Education Bioethics

If you believe that they will not actually people who are. They are masters of deception operations, and disguise. Not responsible for the relationship between anything.A psychopaths to destroy your life and finally their gas lamps, and they projected them to other people. The danger is psychopath, however, many are not know what you can do the survivors have learned about mental illness. The following is a report on the scenario of psychosis.

They may seem the perfect couple, parent, friend was a perfect perfect, the right people for the company, it is just that ? appearance. In order to cover the presence of a fake their emotional consumption, control, and to destroy everything around them.

Some successful companies is a good hired a psychopath unconsciously. He is so charming, attractive, in fact, was an employee of that they are allowed to do business. Because their interests began to drop dramatically, we established the camera to the store looking for a shop lifter. When they steal a lot of money from employees to intentionally perfect, I was surprised to take its share, to know that their customers change away. If work is stopped, leaving him in court, thousands of dollars to them, refused to hire them, and know they sued successfully fall of privacy. After the trial, he is from everyone around him, lying to customers and gain their sympathy, had been beaten at home, has been stalking. Their business and home prices ? and eventually a very large stops the couple lost everything. If they knew he was mentally ill, you can become a very different result.

Psychopath is someone?s husband his wife, he is that she loved him, and he wanted to have sex with him, the voice in his head told him to sexual assault until now so you want to manipulate, the younger brother suffered from schizophrenia and believed. He is to manipulate her into believing that there is no need to fear his brother, he was left alone with him. Women frightened, shocked and confused by the answer to a visit to her brother and his sexual course.

Make your own needs, so he wants revenge, another psychopath angry at people he lied, not interacting with anger management problems and fight friends. He shows the direction to arouse the anger of himself, he is they just want to go. I have a friend is angry, and attacked the victim physically. In order to cover their motives, psychopath, you can use the others to replace them and their dirty work.

Because he was married to the family, partner of psychosis, so you want to feel guilty that they, because you can control him, he, he is that looking for something he is not possible financially desperate news continued. That his wife spent many years doing a very great sacrifice for what he wants to get it, he finally, he can be happy when there was no. Because he has lost some of its power, instead, he became violently angry.

I have visited in contact with them, terrorizing her children when they are applied to the court custody, another quiet psychopath. He is managed to convince the judge that you have the idea that his wife put in my head to imagine the things her children. He could not be addressed in the care of children, but did not get custody of him, he does not really want him on just that, hoping psychological, and financial power, he is to do this has adopted the legal system.

Psychopath parents fear, that swim by that he will support until the drowning before to withdraw most, ignore the call of her to leave him there, put yourself in deep water can not be the children . Explanation given was that he taught her to swim. Find are considered to be very intelligent person obviously he does not know what it just other people, this is a stupid. They also believe that this is not done for her children that parents intentionally.

Psychopath is, her beloved cat is not that psychopaths do not like a psychopath in a human cause in the life of someone, is a partner of love. When he killed the cat in silence, her partner, has been grief, could not find a beloved pet her, she comforted him, that they find is to know that no, it has spent much of his time to seek help for.

Woman suspected was cheating psychopath of desperate for truth he asked her husband. He said he believes that he could ask such a thing. He believes he believed, for many years, and he has a terrible person for not feeling guilty. Then, when she refused to undergo HIV testing for life insurance, he not only had many business men and women, people at home, that you have some married with children and bed is now to be known. He is also, I think has the HIV, and has been used to give it to someone else much. He says to blame him for it is not sufficient. He also said they liked all the holes in the fence. There are no restrictions on psychopaths. They are for those of all the objects, to have sex with other people, we have Kisuhagu. Because they knew that it was wrong to hide, you can create a front worthy, they are all, to feel responsible for the damage it does not other people do not have.

In young adults, psychopaths, there is a conflict between the friends that are used suddenly, without noticing the company of each other, to enjoy, to sit in psychosis outside to enjoy it among a group of his friends. They are if you go to the party, suddenly lift a friend, but was beaten, but it is not a psychosis for some reason, he did not look happy or was the result, nobody. All things that he did, whispered in the ears of others.

Psychopath who loved an animal, you have a dog that he will continue to throw the ball. He will tell it to people who love dogs and pat and stroke. He believed that he threw the ball up in the mountains of barbed wire for the dog and the dog to retrieve the broken glass and, we are happy to entertain him. He looked eagerly in the hope that it threw the ball into the fire, the dog was going to pick it up.

U.S. urged to follow own human rights reporting

WASHINGTON, May 24 (IPS) - The U.S. State Department on Thursday released the government's annual compendium of country-by-country human rights reports, but ran into criticism from rights groups for holding double standards.

Guarding the rights of citizens around the world "means the United States cannot selectively champion freedom and human rights when convenient," said Frank Jannuzi, the head of Amnesty International's Washington office.

"Disturbingly, in the era of globalization, the United States has too often pushed aside human rights concerns to focus on economic and national security priorities."

In unveiling the new report, Michael H. Posner, an official with the State Department, reiterated President Barack Obama's theory of "principled engagement", the U.S. attempt to balance human rights with other interests.

"We engage in the world and we recognise that there are a range of interests," Posner said in Washington. "We have security interests, economic interests, political, diplomatic. But human rights is an essential part of what we do across the board."

In part, the report warns that the rights situation in China is deteriorating, pays special attention to issues related to technology and sexuality, and makes particular mention of what has taken place in Myanmar (Burma) over the past year.

It suggests that Myanmar's "example of a government moving towards a model of greater openness, democracy, and liberty" could "inspire ? other closed societies, such as Iran, North Korea, Uzbekistan, Eritrea, or Sudan."

The report also includes a focus on the Arab Spring and subsequent transition period, warning that "change often creates instability before it leads to greater respect for democracy and human rights ? The challenge during these transitions is to keep societies open to political debate."

Adding to a warning voiced last year, the report notes a "sharp escalation of official restrictions on the work of human rights and democracy advocates".

Rights defenders are nearly unanimous in their appreciation of the scope and detail of the mammoth compilation, now 35 years old but having taken notable strides in recent years. Officially known as the Country Reports on Human Rights Practices, this year the report covers the activities for 2011 of 199 countries, though not including the United States itself.

"The report has become an invaluable reference point, and this year's looks particularly fresh," Neil Hicks, international policy adviser for Human Rights First, here in Washington, told IPS.

"The challenge arises in that the more and better that the United States reports on human rights conditions, the more it exposes the limitations and inconsistencies in U.S. human rights policy."

He notes that Saudi Arabia, for instance, is entirely missing from the widely read introductory overview. "That will not go unnoticed in the region," he says. "It will bring forth accusations of double standards."

Hicks also points to the example of Bahrain, the reporting on which is notably robust in the new report. "During that same year, we had a large sale of arms to Bahrain by the U.S., despite several human rights problems there being unresolved," he says.

"There is a consistent trend across the Middle East. Look at the military assistance that went to Egypt even though problems relating to the persecution of NGOs remained outstanding. Such actions send contradictory messages."

Even as the reports have continued to improve, "every year U.S. policymakers ignore these findings," concurs Geoff Thale, programme director with the Washington Office on Latin America (WOLA), an advocacy group.

"U.S. policymakers act as if the reports never happened," Thale said in a statement, pointing to inconsistencies between U.S. rights research and foreign policy in Colombia, Mexico and Honduras.

"The United States continues to funnel assistance to militaries with patterns of abuse, to train police forces that have long-standing problems with corruption and criminal infiltration, and to work closely with security forces that frequently ignore the rule of law."

Once again, the new report does not cover the United States itself. For many observers, particularly in governments singled out by Washington for criticism, this notable absence has long translated into a certain lack of legitimacy for the report overall.

The State Department acknowledged such criticism in a handout accompanying the new report, in which it noted that "the United States does examine its own human rights record against its international commitments and obligations in many other fora." It highlighted the U.S. report to the U.N. Human Rights Council in December, as well as its participation in the U.N. Universal Periodic Review process.

More worrying for some observers is not necessarily the lack of information on what takes place within the United States, but rather the quiet absence of reference to U.S. actions in other countries.

"The U.S. this year has been responsible for the deaths of hundreds of innocent people through drone strikes in Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia, and is evolving a model of lawless assassination on an industrial scale that would not reflect well in any balanced human rights report," Medea Benjamin, a political campaigner, told IPS.

"To talk about human rights activities in Pakistan and not bring up the massive death toll from U.S. drone strikes is ridiculous. Unfortunately, it shows that the U.S. is not really open to reflecting the reality on the ground."

South Africa's Soweto gets its fashion week

(AP) ? Struggling but deserving designers will get a chance to show work inspired by the creativity and history of South Africa's most famous township in Soweto's first fashion week opening Thursday.

The township on Johannesburg's southwestern edge was the natural place for a show for new designers, said 23-year-old entrepreneur and Soweto Fashion Week organizer Stephen Manzini.

"You walk around Soweto, you see creativity everywhere," Manzini said.

Manzini didn't ask designers to show extensive collections or charge them take part, unlike the country's more established fashion weeks. Fashion blogger Mahlatse James says this gives a chance to designers who have not yet made a name to have a chance to show their work to boutique owners and potential investors.

"Creatives from Soweto do need their own platform," James said. "If the other fashion platforms cannot afford them that, they have to create their own."

Manzini acknowledges Soweto Fashion Week is an ambitious title for his three-day showcase of 16 designers. Rehearsals were held in the parking lot and garden of a modest apartment borrowed from a tailor friend, in a northern Johannesburg neighborhood some designers found difficult to reach by taxi van, the main form of cheap mass transportation in South Africa.

"We refused to be stopped because we don't have funding," said Manzini, who raised 60,000 rand (about $7,500) from churches, business people and other sponsors for the event. His mother, a nurse, tapped her contacts and acted as chairwoman of the event, and is someone off whom he could bounce ideas, Manzini said.

Manzini is confident that in coming years, the event will grow to a full week and give many more designers an opportunity. He hopes to start his own business distributing designs that will first take the catwalk this week.

Soweto has long been known for its quirky sense of style, with designers splashing bright colors and urban sensibilities on everything from the latest silhouettes on European runways to reworkings of the dapper suits Nelson Mandela wore when he lived in the township in the 1940s. The older Mandela is best known for his relaxed but colorful shirts. But as a younger man, the son of a royal family was a political celebrity in Soweto, and dressed the part.

"The style that Nelson Mandela rocked in his day," and other looks from the 1940s and 1950s are popular among Soweto designers, said fashion writer James, who himself sports a shaved part in his hair, like Mandela had as a young man.

James, dressed on the day he was interviewed in a purple tartan bow tie and eye-popping blue shoes, also favors the bright colors and nerdy yet cool skinny silhouettes popularized by the Smarteez, a design collective from Soweto that has drawn international attention.

The designers in Manzini's shows aren't as recognizable as Smarteez. But the strikingly modern Soweto Hotel, one of Manzini's sponsors, has given them a classy stage with an evocative history. The hotel where the shows will be staged sits on the square where, in 1955, South Africans of all races gathered to adopt the Freedom Charter, which proclaims: "South Africa belongs to all who live in it, black and white." Freedom Square is now a national monument.

For 29-year-old designer Tebogo Lehlabi, Soweto is "liberation. It's freedom."

Lehlabi has never before participated in a fashion week. She said she had not been confident enough in the past to seek such a showcase, but now hopes that boutique owners will see her designs in Soweto and seek her out.

"It's a great opportunity. It's a long time coming. There's a lot of talent that's going on in the townships," said Lehlabi, who comes from another Johannesburg township, Alexandra.

"Soweto is coming along, it's coming into its own" along with the rest of South Africa, Lehlabi said. "We're an emerging identity. So, anything goes. It's a young and fresh identity."

She expresses her own identity in recycled materials and bits and pieces she finds at supermarkets and hardware stores. She dyes her clothing to washed out blues and grays that she says suggest Johannesburg's smog and "that bleached look that you sometimes get just before it rains."

Her collection for the Soweto Fashion Show includes sleeveless blouses made from cloth her local supermarkets sells for rags. It's a soft cotton that dyes beautifully, Lehlabi said.

She takes the brightly checked vinyl bags impoverished travelers load onto buses and trains across Africa, and cuts them into pieces to use as decorative trim. Other embellishments are hand-woven from hardware store rope.

"I'm inspired by the working class. Because I am working class," she said.

Each piece is painstakingly handmade.

But "it's very street. It's street couture," Lehlabi said.

Lehlabi turns subtlety and thrift into elegance. Collen Monnakgotla, 32, another designer, represents the other extreme of township ingenuity. He dresses men in bright blocks of color, and his fabrics range from denim to Lycra.

Monnakgotla said he brings "something ghetto, something funky" to Soweto Fashion Week.

Beginning of the end for internet anonymity?

If the bill passes, get ready to hand over your full name and home address

Anonymity is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, the United States was founded, in part, thanks to Thomas Paine's anonymously written, pro-revolution pamphlet?Common Sense. On the other hand, 12-year-olds who post anonymously on the internet can be rather unpleasant and?cause real problems by cyberbullying. Whether you think the good outweighs the bad, this news is troubling indeed: A far-reaching bill introduced in the New York State Senate could end the practice of posting online once and for all.

Sen. Thomas F. O'Mara / NY SenateIntroduced by New York State?Sen. Thomas F. O'Mara (R?Big Flats),?S6779 would require that any anonymous post online is subject to removal if the poster refuses to post ? and verify ? their legal name, their?IP address,?and their home address. From the (likely well intentioned) bill:

"A web site administrator upon request shall remove any comments posted on his or her web site by an anonymous poster unless such anonymous poster agrees to attach his or her name to the post and confirms that his or her IP address, legal name, and home address are accurate. All web site administrators shall have a contact number or e-mail address posted for such removal requests, clearly visible in any sections where comments are posted."

Critics are quick to point out how dangerous and ineffective the anti-privacy bill would be in the off chance that it somehow passes.? After all, IP addresses do nothing to verify a person's identity, and including your home address on a controversial internet post could open you up to real-life threats.

In effect, the bill is an?online stalker's dream. Of course, the most likely result of the bill's passage would just be the full-scale elimination of all comment systems everywhere, because the system is an unworkable burden on both the poster and the "web site administrators" who would need to respond to ludicrous take down requests at all times of the day.

Planning Your Interior Design Project

Planning is an important preparation for any interior design project. With careful planning, you can also work out budgets for your new look design and decide on what to spend more or less on to achieve it. Here is a checklist of what to consider.

1)?? ?Colour

Colour is an obvious thing to think about, but you should really think carefully and spend some time in planning colours. Colours can come in different shades and tones, so think about contrasting colours together and how you would go about doing this. You may also want to think about clashing colours together, or mixing plain colours with bold prints depending on your personal taste and the impact you want to make.

2)?? ?Curtains

When thinking about curtains, these could be as cheap or expensive as you are willing to pay for them.

When choosing your curtain fabrics, think about the colour and pattern to coordinate with your colour scheme and also what type of curtains or blinds will suit your room.? Also if you are paying for curtain making up and fitting and can select your own fabrics, then think about the type of fabric that will suit your style of curtain or blind.

3)?? ?Flooring

Flooring is usually the last thing that is thought about, but make sure you plan it with the rest of your look so it all fits together. There are many types of flooring, everything from natural coverings to wood and tiles, so think about what will be stylish and functional in your living space.

4)?? ?Lighting

Lighting is another thing that is underestimated and often overlooked. To have clever lighting in your home can transform the ambience and atmosphere. If you are having building work done as part of your project you can consider installing new lights, perhaps wall lights or even floor lighting.

5)?? ?Accessories

Accessories to complete an interior design look are essential to bring everything together. You can mix and match and coordinate with your new home interior and have lots of fun doing it. You can accessorise with all kinds of things including ornaments, paintings and prints, lamps and cushions. Think about displaying collections or ornaments in a different way to add interest.
