Louisiana Commissioner of Insurance Jim Donelon announced Tuesday that emergency insurance rules are in effect that should help people.
One of the rules protects people who are displaced by Isaac and need to see a doctor.? You can go to the doctor anywhere, even if they are outside of your normal plan.
Donelon also says named storm deductibles are also now in the mix, which always causes homeowners problems.
"Because the deductible, two percent, three percent, five percent typically is not two percent, three percent, five percent of the amount of the claim but rather two percent three percent, five percent of your insured value," said Donelon.
The emergency declaration also includes an extension of time to pay premiums without late fees.? Companies cannot cancel or non-renew a policy during the specified time period - in this case, September 25th.
