Position Summary: Haverford College is currently seeking a Controller and Assistant Treasurer, an administrative position reporting to the Vice President for Finance and Administration. The primary responsibilities of the position are: accounting and financial reporting functions of the College; day to day oversight of the Business Office; and assisting the College with treasury functions, budgeting, and financial planning and analysis. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: ? Responsible for Business Office staff and operations including accounting, accounts payable, payroll, student accounts, cash management, taxes, purchasing support, telephone service, and sponsored research. ? Development, implementation and improvement of financial policies, procedures and internal controls to protect College assets and to ensure proper use of the College?s financial resources. ? Provide leadership in further development of newly installed financial accounting software. ? Financial reporting including the annual audit and A-133 federal audit. ? Oversee the accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions and dissemination of financial information for use throughout the College. ? Compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, audit requirements, and donor gift restrictions. ? Oversee preparation of 990 and 990-T tax returns. ? Manage endowment accounting and assist the Investment Office with oversight of College?s endowment funds. ? Manage treasury functions including collection and control of tuition and other revenues, compliance with debt covenants, relationships with external financial institutions and investment of cash balances in conjunction with the Investment Office. ? Provide analytical support and assist senior management and all segments of the community with accounting information. ? Liaison with the Audit Committee of the Board.

Primary Qualifications: ? Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in accounting and financial management in a higher education or not-for-profit setting, preferably in a small college environment. ? Undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting or a related field. CPA strongly preferred. ? Strong database and spreadsheet proficiency and broad experience with financial and accounting software packages. ? Demonstrated knowledge of FASB and financial statement preparation, payroll and payroll taxes, and other tax issues in higher education. ? Experience with reporting for endowments and alternative investments. ? Experience and interest in developing Business Office staff. ? Position requires integrity and sound judgment, excellent supervisory, communications and presentation skills, along with the ability to work with a wide range of co-workers in a shared decision-making environment.
