This weekend's NFL games will come down to QB play

We preach defense wins championships, but that's old school thinking.

The new era of the NFL is about quarterbacks and their ability to produce big plays, clutch moments.

The game has metamorphosed into a fast paced approach. Its about which quarterback can deliver the big plays, and which defenses can contain them the best.

Last weekend's playoff games showed us the quarterbacks who delivered in the fourth quarter and overtime are the ones whose teams will advance. That's why I'm riding with San Francisco 49ers and New England Patriots this weekend.

Those are my Super Bowl predictions considering both squads were the best teams I saw in person this season covering the Dolphins.

The 49ers are physical and possess the big play dynamic. They can strike at any time like a Cobra.

The Patriots are like a python. They'll wrap around you, apply pressure at a steady pace and squeeze you to death with error free football.

The Ravens? defense has been consistently dominant this decade, but so has Tom Brady. Even without Rob Gronkowski the Patriots possess too many weapons, too much offense. And Baltimore doesn?t have enough pass rushing to cut off the head of Bill Belichick's serpent, which is Brady.

As much I love Ray Lewis and Ed Reed, and believe that defense can still win championships, Brady is the best quarterback I've ever seen, and I believe he'll carry his team to another Super Bowl.

Joe Flacco has made drastic improvements. Everyone who knows me knows I'm a big Flacco fan. But he's not on Brady's level and will have to play a mistake free game to beat New England.

The same can be said about Matt Ryan, whose Falcons host the 49ers, which I believe is the most complete team in the NFL.

Colin Kaepernick, another man crush alum of mine, has become one of the NFL?s most dynamic young talents. But he's not on Ryan's level yet.

However, what Kaepernick has is a ton of weapons around him.

The 49ers have one of the NFL's best offensive lines. And Frank Gore, Michael Crabtree and Vernon Davis are a very respectable triplets units.

The Falcons-49ers game will come down to defense, and big plays, which is why I'm going with Kaepernick and the 49ers defense.

San Francisco is the best marriage of yesterday's NFL and what we see today.
